MakingSpace · Plan of a Kind

Terms and Conditions

These terms cover access to and use of the MakingSpace church-planning service.

Version 3 · 19 October 2026

1. About these terms

“MakingSpace”, “we” and “us” mean Joshua Young, a sole trader trading as Plan of a Kind. “You” means the individual account holder. If you start a paid subscription, you are the purchaser and customer responsible for that subscription. A church name, logo or branding identifies a workspace only; it does not by itself make the church the customer or make you its representative. Each person who uses an account must accept the current terms for their own use. Team members do not become responsible for the subscription payment merely by being invited to a workspace.

2. The service and accounts

MakingSpace provides church ministry teams with tools to plan sessions, organise groups, series and resources, collaborate, and share selected planning materials. You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in details secure and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You must be authorised to create or administer a church workspace and manage its subscription.

Team Admins are responsible for inviting the right people, choosing access levels, and ensuring that team members are allowed to see the information in their workspace. Each church workspace and subscription is managed separately. Joining another church does not transfer ownership of your own workspace or subscription.

3. Acceptable use and ministry information

Use MakingSpace lawfully and only for its intended planning and collaboration purposes. Do not attempt to disrupt, probe or gain unauthorised access to the service, upload harmful code, or use it to infringe another person’s rights.

Do not put children’s names, identifying details, safeguarding records, attendance records, pastoral disclosures, or other sensitive personal information into planning notes or public share links. You remain responsible for the information you and your team add, and for obtaining any permissions needed to use or share it.

4. Your content

You and your church retain ownership of the material you add. You give us permission to host, store, back up, display and process that material only as needed to provide, secure and support MakingSpace. You are responsible for keeping any copies you need. If a workspace is deleted, its content may be permanently removed.

5. Intellectual property

MakingSpace and its original software, interface design, visual identity, and documentation are owned by Joshua Young trading as Plan of a Kind, or used under licence, and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. All rights in those materials are reserved. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose while your account is authorised. You must not copy, adapt, distribute, resell, or make the service or its protected materials available to others except where the law permits or we give written permission. Third-party software and materials remain subject to their owners’ rights and licence terms. This section does not claim ownership of content that you or your church add; section 4 continues to apply.

6. Plans, billing and renewal

Paid plans, prices, billing intervals, included team limits and available features are shown before checkout. The individual who starts a paid subscription is the customer and is responsible for its charges. The church workspace is for that customer’s use and does not become the contracting customer solely because it is named or branded for a church. Unless the checkout says otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically at the selected monthly or annual interval until cancelled. You authorise the payment method entered at checkout to be used for subscription charges and any taxes shown there. Joshua Young is not VAT registered, so VAT is not added to the prices currently shown. If that changes, the applicable tax treatment will be shown before purchase.

Stripe processes payments and provides billing tools. You can manage payment details or cancel through the billing page or the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; access generally continues until the end of the paid period. A plan change may take effect immediately and may not be prorated; the billing page will explain the applicable timing before you confirm. We provide refunds where required by applicable law. Nothing in these terms limits any statutory cancellation or refund right that applies to you. If the law permits a charge for service supplied before a valid cancellation takes effect, we may charge only the amount permitted by law. Where no statutory refund right applies, subscription payments are not otherwise refundable unless we say otherwise or agree it with you.

Some MakingSpace checkouts may be in Stripe sandbox mode for testing. A sandbox checkout does not take a real payment. The checkout page will identify when it is in sandbox mode. A real subscription can only be started when live billing is explicitly enabled and the live checkout clearly identifies the charge.

7. Privacy and security

Our Privacy Policy explains how account and workspace information is handled. Do not share passwords or secret church codes outside their intended use. We may take reasonable steps to secure the service and investigate suspected misuse.

8. Availability and changes

MakingSpace is under development. Features may change, and the service may be unavailable during maintenance or because of events outside our reasonable control. We may update these terms as the service changes. We will identify the current version and ask each account user to accept it for themselves; if a material version changes, each user may be required to accept the new version before continuing to use the service. The app’s individual acceptance and re-acceptance flow is still being completed, so this draft is not ready for general release.

9. Suspension and ending access

We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the service or its users, address misuse, comply with law, or resolve a security issue. A Team Admin may remove team members. A workspace owner may request deletion; deletion may permanently remove its content and billing records after any active subscription has been cancelled.

10. Liability

We provide MakingSpace with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect loss, or for loss caused by information you or your team entered incorrectly, failure to keep a separate copy, or a service interruption outside our reasonable control.

11. Contact and governing law

The service is provided by Joshua Young, a sole trader trading as Plan of a Kind, of 31 Worcester Road, Leicester, LE2 8HY. You can contact us at contact@planofakind.com. The terms of this agreement and any dispute or claim arising from it are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights that apply to you.
